Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I'm pretty sure it came from a bad April fools joke which was linked to on another site. I don't see the point in bumping up the displacement of this motor, and I still find it hard to believe this engine will find it's way into the HD truck lineup.

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I meant I don't believe they are working on a 3.7L I6. I think you may have fallen for fake news posted elsewhere. I've said it a often, and I have no knowledge, but I think a case could be made for Ram to continue to offer a large displacement, cast iron block, naturally aspirated, pushrod...

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

Now how much will it cost? If it carries an $8-$10k premium over a comparably equipped Ford or GM with their respective old tech V8's, it's a non starter, at least for most fleets. Not to mention the severe weight penalty that engine incurs (which affects max GCVW). But I'm no expert.

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I can't imagine Ram will not follow Ford and GM by offering a large displacement, cast iron block, pushrod V8 engine in their lineup. Ford recently introduced the 7.3 and 6.8 Gas engines, and GM is supposedly working on an all new large displacement offering for their pickups. I know Cummins...

Ram Pulls The Covers Off Of The Updated 2025 Ram 1500

I believe the hood badges were done as a response to customers who asked for cleaner door panels to put their own company logos/info there.

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

Growing up, I spent countless hours being driven and then driving myself around listening to old AMC 4.2L I6's, and personally, I really love the way that engine sounds, so I'm a huge fan of the I6, and I'm very happy to see Stellantis bring it back. I have not heard good things about that...

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I'm thinking for the HD trucks. Maybe they could make a very low number of these rumored new V8's as specials for top of line muscle cars, but I'm mostly talking about an engine for the HD truck lineup. Ford offers 2 new (related) large displacement, cast iron block pushrod V8's and...

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I don't see a strong case for a 4.0L OHC V8, even with twin turbos. If it's true that they're working on a new V8 engine, it would make the most sense if it were a naturally aspirated, cast iron block, large displacement (7L or larger) pushrod V8. I mean, it would be great if they could have...

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

Probably, but I wonder what EU market products would even require a large diesel? Seems like everything they offer there is moving towards 100% electric, including all their light commercial stuff. I wonder if the new diesel could be a fit for a global mid sized 1 metric ton pick up. Who knows.

Stellantis exec makes clear more power coming to I-6 Hurricane, but HEMI is gone.

I always thought they were secretly working on a new V8, but I'm surprised to hear about "a new large diesel." Could it possibly be related to the hurricane I6 gas engine? I know BMW has an I6 diesel that is somehow related to their I6 gas engine. I would love to read more about both (the...

    Why Can't Stellantis Build A Next-Gen HEMI® Engine?

I pretty much agree with you on everything, but I still find it hard to believe that Ram isn't secretly working on a large displacement, naturally aspirated, cast iron block (or CGI) pushrod V8 engine for their HD pickup line. I obviously have no knowledge, but I think it would be very risky...

    Why Can't Stellantis Build A Next-Gen HEMI® Engine?

I don't see an all aluminum engine being used in HD service anywhere else, but I'm not an expert and could be wrong.

    Why Can't Stellantis Build A Next-Gen HEMI® Engine?

I highly doubt that the I6 Hurricane will ever end up in the HD Trucks, so they're going to need to update their V8 engine offering in the HD Trucks at some point no matter what. Maybe we'll start to hear something about a new HD Truck V8 engine program AFTER the UAW contract is negotiated. And...

Next-Gen Durango Replacement, More Than Likely Won't Use Stealth Name

It seems that FCA and now Stellantis learned more from the last bankruptcy cycle than their Michigan contemporaries. My guess is they are not eager to repeat the mistakes of the past by focusing on negative margin products. I think FCA/Stellantis has wisely chosen to delay new product in...

The problem of electric cars for the middle class. In conversation with Carlos Tavares

Here we are in the 21st century, extolling the virtues of an 18th century modern of transport. My guess is that spending gobs of money (or eminent domain) to acquire land to build rail infrastructure is like trying to drive cross country in reverse using only your mirrors. If one truly...

The problem of electric cars for the middle class. In conversation with Carlos Tavares

What about fattening the bottom line of those in Europe who build the public transportation system? Do we not count those as well? Same crap gets served all over the world, just different seasoning.

I am hearing they are rethinking the end of the V8 for Charger/Challenger

That's certainly one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is to note that they always said "last call for current generation." and most likely had been considering keeping a V8 in the lineup for the next generation for a while already, but tried to keep it quiet while they sold out...

BREAKING: Windsor Will Begin Building A New Electrified Vehicle In 2024:

So let me get this straight... When I grew up as a kid in the 70's and 80's, that is, back when they were still purely American owned, Dodge had NO V8 Muscle cars. No vocational trucks. I never saw Dodge Tow trucks or utility trucks. I once saw a 60's Power Wagon at a country gas station, but...

BREAKING: Windsor Will Begin Building A New Electrified Vehicle In 2024:

I read elsewhere, from someone I believe was at one time on the inside, that Ram has been working on a new 7.5L V8 for the upcoming new/refreshed HD Rams in the next year or two. That post was from 2 years ago just after Ford unveiled their new 7.3L V8. So it is entirely possible that when...
