These types of spin off or derivatives of common architectures, once full implemented, will translate into much better build quality, lower costs and more profit. It has been a grueling process in the North American market as the new generation of Jeeps, Rams, Dodges and Chrysler’s have been slow coming to market. One hopes that reality in interpreting this market and respecting its culture and demands in product will produce great product that folks want not what some in charge are pushing.. In addition, decisions on things like electrification, if it follows the European driven thinking and policy, could be rejected wholesale and lead to these domestic brands suffering in the North American market. European manufactureres and hopefully governments, will see the impossibility of these politically driven plans and is now looking to find ways to keep gas powered vehicle relevant and available long term.
As a North American consumer I echo the sentiments of a majority of my market segment demographic, keep it gas and keep it big or say good bye to our dollars.
The plight of Disney and Budweiser should be the shot across the bow that communicates clearly that American consumers should not be trifled with or disrespected. We won’t buy what your selling. Boom!

The Fiat 600 can fill in the vacuum after the departure of the Chevy Bolt, but there are challenges. The market segment it would occupy is tiny and heavily government subsidized. Can they import knock downs and then add the power train and batteries here while still staying affordable?

The conservative drift in various European counties is much more visible than here in North America. The recent protests in France over replacing their nation's flag with the EU flag provides evidence. Sweden has taken a noticeable hard right turn. Some of these counties are rejecting the ICE ban. The question of Eastern Europe allegiance to the EU is even more unsettled and that is where many of these Stellantis products are built.

My advice to Stellantis is forget going all in the battery electric power train for North America. The Fiat 600 is on a platform which also supports a plugin hybrid as its Jeep Avenger cousin demonstrates. Some of the engines for that will be built here for some undisclosed product. I'm not saying don't sell a pure EV, but please give us a choice here in flyover country.

You have to address that half the US population lives under the CARB regulations.

The Jeep Avenger comes both ways hybrid or pure battery electric. We know that particular model won't be sold here, but with Europe becoming half and half for buying into the ICE ban, the situation is similar. The Fiat 600 could potentially offer a choice between BEV and PHEV if sold here.
