The Jeep® brand has made it no secret that it plans to offer an electrified variant of each of the brand’s models by 2024. Jeep recently released its long-awaited plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe in the second quarter, bringing the 4xe badge that has been a huge success across Europe with its Renegade and Compass models to the North American market for the first time.

what Jeep enthusiasts asked for this? Is there a demand for electric vehicles with offroad capability. Serious question. Jeep people i know, including myself arent exactly the kind of people that worry about saving a few pennies on gas. You pretty much go into buying a jeep knowing its a money pit...bigger tires, beefier suspension, lift kits, gearing mods.. Never been to a trail and heard someone say they wished their jeep was an EV.

Gladiator is apples and oranges from Wrangler. What works for JL doesn't work for JT.

JT is already pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable GVWR for a mid size truck now, so adding several hundred pounds more weight is going to make it really hard for them to maintain any respectable payload capacity at all.

And unless they use a larger battery pack, what's the range going to be on electricity? 15 miles? 5 if you're towing?

And which engine are they going to use? The 2.0L isn't offered because they couldn't keep it cool enough while reaching for SAE J2807 towing targets.
