Collectibles: MotorMax 1:27 Scale 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4
Good For Kids, Not For The Diehard Collector...
There are a ton of diecast collectors out there. But if they are anything like us, there are always checking the end caps and toy aisles of their local grocery or drug stores.
This past weekend, our adventures led us to the local CVS Pharmacy. It didn’t take long for us to notice a trio of brightly colored MotorMax 1:27 scale 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4 diecasts on the end cap near the register.
While we have had MotorMax models in the past, they are far from the most detailed or of the best quality. Priced at $16.99 USD, we couldn’t resist picking up one of these models. Although we were able to choose from Flame Red, Hydro Blue, or Bright White, my daughter who was with me, chose the white truck.
One look at the model, you can see there is a moderate amount of detail. I was impressed with the folding mirrors and even the tiny decals that you can barely see in the instrument cluster and the 5-inch Uconnect® 3 touchscreen.
Upon further inspection, we noticed some simple incorrect details like the body-colored upper part of the grille (which can be explained, as the diecast is shared with a Laramie Sport version), as well as the weird cut line behind the window on the rear doors. Also, the door gaps are ridiculously bad.
While the model isn’t a showpiece for collectors, it would make an excellent toy for any young Mopar fan. Both axles spin freely with ease, allowing kids to push the truck across hardwood or linoleum floors. We suggest that if you are looking for a replica of your Rebel pickup for your young child, this would be a perfect toy for those kids who are rough on their toys.
It’s a good-looking model for the money but falls far short of being collectible.
