Argentina Welcomes The 2021 Jeep® Gladiator To The Market:

Jeep Enters Midsize Pickup Market In Argentina...

The Jeep® brand has expanded its popular Gladiator model’s global reach to the country of Argentina this week. Built on the brand’s rich heritage and iconic 4×4 skills, the Gladiator boasts an unrivaled combination of ruggedness and authentic Jeep design, freedom of outdoor driving, functionality, and versatility in the midsize pickup segment.

2021 Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon. (Jeep).

The Gladiator will be available in two trim levels for the Argentine market, Overland and Rubicon. Both models will come standard with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with engine stop-start (ESS) delivering 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. The Pentastar will be paired up to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Both will be the only available configuration for the market.

The Gladiator provides legendary Jeep off-road capability thanks to two advanced 4×4 systems. There is the Selec-Trac 4×4 system for the Overland, which features a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 final ratio for the gearbox and with the third generation of front and rear Dana rigid axles with a 3.73 ratio for the rear axle.

2021 Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon. (Jeep).

For the off-road-oriented Gladiator Rubicon, the Rock-Trac 4×4 system incorporates the third generation of Dana 44 high-performance front and rear axles, and a 4: 1 final ratio reducer (4LO). As standard, the ratio of the front and rear axles is 4.10. Tru-Lok electronically locking differentials are also standard. Gladiator Rubicon offers improved articulation and overall suspension travel with the help of an electronically removable anti-roll bar, a segment-exclusive.

Both the Command-Trac and Rock-Trac systems offer permanent torque management, allowing optimal grip in low-traction conditions. A Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential on the Overland version provides extra torque and grip in low-grip or slippery conditions, such as driving on sand, rocks, snow, or ice. Each Gladiator vehicle features a “Trail Rated” badge.

2020 Jeep® Gladiator Overland. (Jeep).

Overland models will feature a set of 18-inch Granite Crystal-colored wheels with all-season tires, while Rubicon models have a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires wrapped around 17-inch Polished-Black aluminum wheels.

The Gladiator chassis uses advanced material and engineering that help reduce weight without losing stiffness and stability. It features a high-strength, lightweight steel frame, which, compared to the four-door Wrangler, is 31-inches longer. The wheelbase is also 19.4-inches longer than the Wrangler Unlimited, which, together with the positioning of the center of the box just behind the centerline of the rear axle, provides better weight distribution, more comfortable rides, and more confidence when driving and/or carry loads in the box. The transmission, brake system, fuel, and exhaust lines have been lengthened to accommodate the necessary changes that make the chassis design a perfect fit for the most capable midsize pickup in the world.

Gladiator’s traditional steel box uses four cross members to reinforce the cargo floor, while the aluminum tailgate features damping and three open positions.

In order to protect critical components, items like the fuel tank, transfer case, and automatic transmission oil pan use four guard plates and bars. Rubicon models also benefit from the installation of rock-rails side protection bars made of heavy-gauge tubular steel to mitigate possible damage to the bodywork when driving on off-road tracks.

Lightweight, high-strength aluminum latches for the doors, hinges, windshield frame, and tailgate, help reduce weight and boost fuel economy. Jeep’s engineering team has also reduced weight by incorporating hollow guide and stabilizer bars, engine mounts, and steering gears made of aluminum.

The rear five-link suspension, another most unique feature of the Gladiator, is made up of two upper and two lower arms in forged steel for longitudinal control and a guide bar for transverse control of the axle. The control arms are located below the chassis rails, while the rear shocks are oriented forward to provide consistent damping, ride comfort, and better load management. This allows the Gladiator to have up to 1,355 lbs (615 kg) of payload and 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) of towing capacity.

Gladiator models will be available in 7 exterior colors for the Argentine market. Those colors include Hydro Blue, Bright White, Black, Firecracker Red, Sting-Gray, Billet Silver, and Granite Crystal.

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator Overland has an Argentine Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $8,679,762 pesos (or about $93,000 USD), while the Gladiator Rubicon has a starting MSRP of $9,239,746 pesos (or $99,000 USD). That’s quite a bit of difference from the starting price of $40,565 for the Overland and $43,995 for the Rubicon here in the United States.
