Can You Believe How Much More Expensive The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Has Gotten?

Ram's Performance Off-Roader Continues To Get Expensive...

Last year, the Ram Truck brand unleashed the high-anticipated Ram 1500 TRX and it took the pickup world by storm. The performance off-roader earned MotorTrend’s 2021 “Truck of the Year”, marking the first time an automaker had won the award three years in a row. The awards didn’t just stop there, with Car and Driver adding the Ram 1500 to its “10Best vehicles for 2021” list for the third consecutive year. Car and Driver highlighted that “the addition of the Ram TRX gives buyers a ridiculously fun option that isn’t for the faint-hearted. A truck that is this good off-road has no business being so sophisticated on [the] pavement, but it is and we love it.” Not a bad way to start out the launch of a new model.

As the Ram 1500 TRX soldiers on into the 2022 model year, demands for new inventory due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage and supplier shortages have caused major markups from dealers across the United States and Canada. Furthermore, with the ongoing end of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 nearing in the next few years, people aren’t wasting time snatching up the performance off-roader off dealer lots when they become available.

But as dealers are continuing to mark up prices on TRX models, many people have overlooked that the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has gotten a significant price increase over the previous year.

Last year, the 2021 model had a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $70,325 (not including the additional $1,695 for destination charges). That was after an upcharge late in the 2021 model year, after Ram’s initial starting price of $69,995 for the TRX. For 2022, the starting MSRP on the TRX has risen to $76,780 (not including a now higher $1,795 for destination). That is an increase of $6,785 since the launch of the vehicle.

The Canadian market TRX also received huge increases for the 2022 model year. At the end of 2021, the Ram 1500 TRX had a starting MSRP of $100,760 (including destination charges). But for 2022, Ram has increased the TRX’s starting price by $4,725 for a total of $105,485 (again including destination charges).

So for those who tried to justify their early 2021 purchase of a TRX to a spouse or significant other. We think it was a smart choice, especially since you saved a few thousand dollars. That alone is good enough for a few tanks of fuel considering the TRX’s fuel economy and the cost of rising gas prices.
