CHECK THIS OUT: A HELLCAT-Powered Jeep Grand Wagoneer “HellWagon”:
Factory Look With Hellcat Power Under The Hood...
Last week we shared details and spy shots with you on the upcoming 2021 Jeep Wagoneer, a vehicle that Jeep has to get right due to the Wagoneers cult-like following. Well, now we have stumbled across this pristine 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a 6.2-liter Hellcrate engine under the hood, built by Black Mountain Jeep.
Starting with a perfect example of a Jeep Grand Wagoneer, painted in the rare 4B (Bright Red) paint code, the team at Black Mountain Jeep, yanked out the old, underpowered 5.9-liter AMC V8 and dropped in a Hellcrate 6.2-liter supercharged V8. Trackhawk exhaust manifolds and a custom oil pan, along with custom mounts, were needed to fit the Hellcat engine in the old Wagoneer, but the result looks almost factory. The rest of the drivetrain is stock, down to the 3-speed automatic transmission and factory Jeep transfer case, which is surprising as the Hellcat V8 develops an extra 563 horsepower and 370lb.-ft of torque over the old AMC engine.
The interior of this Grand Wagoneer is finished in the desirable light tan and looks as if the Jeep had just rolled off the showroom floor, with the odometer showing just under 52,000 miles. The paint and bodywork are all original, and when the team at Black Mountain Jeep had the body off the frame to fit the engine, they cleaned and re-coated the chassis and underbody. The end result is one sleeper of a Grand Wagoneer that looks absolutely factory fresh. This Jeep is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, as Dennis Collins shows in the video below.
