Charger Daytona Named 2025 “Performance Green Car of the Year”

Dodge's First Electric Muscle Car Wins Its First Award...

The all-new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, the first all-electric vehicle (EV) from the Dodge brand, has won the 2025 “Performance Green Car of the Year” from Green Car Journal. It marks the first award for the new Dodge e-muscle car.

According to Green Car Journal editor and publisher Ron Cogan, the Charger Daytona is a perfect blend of power and eco-friendly efficiency. “The Dodge Charger Daytona lives up to the brand’s storied muscle car legacy with its striking design and brute power at the ready,” Cogan said. “What’s magical is that it delivers its impressive performance through the inherent efficiency of zero-emission electric drive as it addresses the need to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental achievement.”

At the heart of the Charger Daytona lineup is the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, delivering an impressive 670 horsepower and a staggering 627 lb.-ft. of torque. This electric muscle car can rocket from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, with an estimated quarter-mile time of 11.5 seconds. Complementing the Scat Pack is the Charger Daytona R/T, offering 496 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque, still providing thrilling performance with the benefits of an all-electric powertrain.

Both models feature Dodge’s 400-volt dual motor system, providing standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a mechanical limited-slip differential. To make these electric muscle cars even more unique, Dodge has introduced the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system, which generates a bold, distinctive sound typically not found in electric vehicles. This system is designed to simulate the growl of a traditional muscle car engine, creating a powerful auditory experience.

A Look Toward the Future –

For Dodge enthusiasts, the Charger Daytona marks the brand’s step into electrification without sacrificing the muscle car experience. Dodge CEO Matt McAlear emphasized this point: “The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona is a game changer not just because it’s an [EV], but because it’s a better muscle car. The new Charger Daytona delivers more horsepower than the outgoing models, wrapped in iconic design, with a sound that is unlike anything you’ve ever heard from a battery-electric vehicle.”

Dodge remains committed to offering both electric and gas-powered options, making the Charger Daytona part of a multi-energy muscle car lineup. Alongside the electric versions, Dodge will release gas-powered models, including the two-door Dodge Charger SIX PACK H.O. and four-door Charger SIX PACK S.O., starting production in late 2025.

Green Incentives and Charging –

As fully electric vehicles, the Charger Daytona Scat Pack and Charger Daytona R/T qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit when leased. Customers will also have the option of an at-home Level 2 charging station or a $600 charging credit through Stellantis’ Free2move Charge, an ecosystem created to simplify the electric vehicle charging experience. Both models support fast charging, allowing drivers to recharge from 20% to 80% in just over 27 minutes using a Level 3 DC CCS fast charger.

The first four-door Charger Daytona models will begin production in early 2025, with deliveries expected to follow shortly after. Dodge has also opened up First Call orders for the two-door coupe versions of the Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack, which come with exclusive perks. These include a two-day performance driving experience at Radford Racing School, a welcome kit, and VIP concierge services for orders placed by October 31, 2024.

The two-door Charger Daytona R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack models will begin arriving at dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Awards for something that doesn't even exist yet?
Classy.

Should probably wait until these are in the hands of customers before just cheaply handing out awards.

What's so magical about it? You can say this for every 500-1000hp EV on the market. At least with those EVs, they've actually been in customer hands. What a hilariously goofy statement to make for a car that basically no one has driven.

I’ll take anything positive for Dodge right now, even if it’s questionable.
I would be much more enthusiastic if the Gas Powered Muscle Car Association (GPMCA) was awarding the 2025 Dodge Challenger it’s prestigious award for its next generation V-8 powered muscle car that people actually are clamoring for and would sell. Seems like the Green Car thing is really a posthumous award for this dead on arrival offering, sadly.
We can resurrect the Dodge brand if that Challenger really existed and that GPMCA thing was more than a figment of my imagination.
Actually, it’s not that far fetched or unimaginable, is it Dodge loves?

I would like to know why Dodge is getting rid of the challenger?
And It seems like the only new charger is the Daytona one?
