Braun Recalls 2024 Chrysler Minivans for Seat Limiter Issue
Missing Seat Limiters Fail To Comply with FMVSS Standards...
The Braun Corporation has recalled 44 units of their 2024 Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager BraunAbility minivans. The seat limiter may not have been installed, allowing the seat to move too far forward. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”
The seat limiter, which is installed to limit the forward motion of the seat, was potentially omitted during the manufacturing process. The absence of a seat limiter could result in a greater risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a collision.
Recall Chronology –
- On November 19, 2024, during random quality audits, some seats in certain converted WAVs were discovered to lack the seat limiters.
- The scope of potentially affected units was determined.
- A meeting with the Level 1 group on November 20, 2024, identified 44 units as potentially affected.
- The final decision of non-compliance was determined on November 21, 2024.
Dealers will inspect and install a seat limiter as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 16, 2024. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit nhtsa.gov.
