Blazin Rodz Unveils 1,500 HP Carbon-Fiber Dodge Charger at SEMA Show

Sangria Blends Classic Muscle With Cutting-Edge Tech...

The 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas saw an impressive debut from Blazin Rodz, a new team of young custom car builders known for pushing the boundaries in automotive innovation. SEMA is one of the automotive industry’s biggest events, bringing together custom builders, parts manufacturers, and car enthusiasts from around the world. This year, Blazin Rodz introduced their latest creation—a carbon-fiber 1970 Dodge Charger dubbed “Sangria”—at the Hemmings booth.

A High-Powered Heart –

Sangria is powered by a beastly 1,500-horsepower HEMI® engine. Specifically, it’s the first-ever Direct Connection 1500 HEMI crate engine, developed by DSR Performance, which gives the Charger a powerful punch and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Built on a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) cast-iron block, the engine features a Stage 2, 3.0-liter Gen5 Whipple supercharger. Blazin Rodz has paired this powerhouse with an 8-speed Stage 2 ZF 8HP transmission from Pure Drivetrain Solutions, ensuring all that horsepower is expertly managed on the road.

Crafting Sangria –

Blazin Rodz turned to carbon fiber to keep the car lightweight without sacrificing strength. The Charger’s body panels were constructed using an autoclave process, which aligns the carbon-fiber weaves for a perfect finish and extra durability. The entire build is mounted on a Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis, specifically designed for high-performance applications. To further enhance the car’s appearance, it’s finished in Wild Cherry Kandy from House of Kolor, which adds depth to the carbon-fiber patterns.

Cutting-Edge Stopping Power –

With 1,500 horsepower under the hood, Blazin Rodz equipped Sangria with Brembo® carbon-ceramic brakes for exceptional stopping power. These high-performance brakes can handle the intense demands of such a powerful machine. The Charger also features custom Kompression wheels—a staggered setup with 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch wheels in the back. Pirelli tires, measuring 255/30R20 in the front and 355/25R21 in the rear, add stability and grip, enhancing the car’s overall performance and stance.

Modern Meets Classic in the Interior –

Inside, Sangria combines modern comfort with classic style. The cabin was outfitted by Avant Garde Design, which added Sparco bucket seats for racing-grade support. To keep the driver and passengers comfortable, Vintage Air performance air conditioning was also installed. Sound is another highlight, with a Pioneer head unit paired with a TRU Technology amplifier and Morel HiFi speakers.

A New Series for Blazin Rodz –

Every step of Sangria’s creation has been documented in “Blazin Rodz: The Series,” which is airing now on YouTube and Roku TV. This series gives viewers an in-depth look at the team’s process, showing the challenges and achievements that went into building this unique 1970 Dodge Charger.

Auction Opportunity –

For the first time at SEMA, Sangria is available for auction through Hemmings’ live auction platform. This rare opportunity allows a lucky bidder to take home a one-of-a-kind Charger that marries Mopar heritage with cutting-edge innovation. The asking price, is a steep $895,000.
