The 1973 Plymouth Barracuda, with its enduring E-body styling, was a sight to behold. It made a strong impression with its silhouette, which returned from the successful 1970 model year. The front grille, headlamps, side marker lamps, and taillamp treatments received a fresh update in 1972. However, as the muscle car era faced challenges, 1973 federal safety standards necessitated changes to the front and rear bumpers to meet impact requirements.

Fast forward to the present day, where automotive enthusiasts are constantly pushing boundaries. A team of passionate gearheads took on the ambitious project of infusing the 1973 Barracuda’s classic appeal with the unmatched power of a modern-day Dodge Challenger SRT HELLCAT. The centerpiece of this transformation is the mighty supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® HELLCAT V8 engine, delivering a jaw-dropping 707 horsepower.

To ensure this one-of-a-kind Barracuda exuded an intimidating presence, a meticulous exterior makeover was undertaken. Customized body panels and a striking rear diffuser were seamlessly integrated, enhancing both aerodynamics and aesthetics. A specially fabricated ram air hood not only improved engine cooling but also accentuated the muscular appeal of the vehicle. Extended rocker panels lent the Barracuda an aggressive stance, hinting at the beast that lay beneath.

To further enhance the fusion of classic and modern elements, the Barracuda received a lustrous PPG Black paint job, emphasizing its timeless charm while exuding a contemporary allure. Carbon Black leather interior added a touch of luxury, ensuring a comfortable and refined cabin environment for passengers.

Recognizing the need to handle the immense power generated by the HELLCAT V8, the Barracuda’s chassis underwent substantial enhancements. The RMS AlterKtion front suspension, coupled with the RMS Street Lynx 4-link rear suspension and Ridetech adjustable coil-over shocks, provided optimal handling and cornering performance. Wilwood brakes, with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers gripping 13-inch rotors, ensured stopping power matched the exhilarating acceleration.

The team behind the HELLCAT-powered Barracuda didn’t stop at the exterior and performance upgrades. The Eaton 8 3/4 modified and braced rear axle with Sure Grip ensured the power was efficiently transmitted to the rear wheels, maximizing traction and stability. TTI ceramic headers and a customized 3-inch exhaust system with Borla S-Type mufflers unleashed the beast’s roar while enhancing engine efficiency.

Additionally, Vintage Air ensured that the cabin remained cool and comfortable during every thrilling drive.

The HELLCAT-powered 1973 Plymouth Barracuda is a mesmerizing testament to the passion and dedication of automotive enthusiasts who sought to blend the charm of the past with the power of the present. As this exceptional creation crosses the 2023 Mecum Harrisburg auction block tomorrow, it stands as a symbol of innovation, showcasing the evolution of automotive engineering and design.
