AUCTION: Cummins-Powered 1940 Dodge VC Pickup
Awesome Looking Custom Power Wagon, Up For Grabs...
A meticulously customized 1940 Dodge VC-series pickup is currently listed for auction on BringATrailer.com, showcasing a blend of vintage aesthetics and modern mechanical upgrades. Originally from Texas, the truck underwent an extensive modification and refurbishment after being acquired by its current owner in 2016.
Powering this classic pickup is a 3.9-liter (239 cubic-inch) Cummins 4BT diesel inline-four engine equipped with a compound turbocharger system. The overhauled engine includes dual turbochargers, an intercooler, and electronically controlled fuel injection. Power is sent to the wheels through a Borg-Warner T19 four-speed manual transmission and a New Process 205 dual-range transfer case, providing selectable two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The exterior boasts a striking gray finish with black fenders, paired with custom front and rear bumpers. Highlights include a 20,000-lb PTO-driven Braden hydraulic winch with synthetic line, AVM locking front hubs, LED lighting, and a black windshield visor. The truck’s custom cargo bed features a black diamond-plate floor, drop-down tailgate with “Fubar” cutouts, and a Monza-style fuel filler cap.
The suspension setup includes Fox remote-reservoir adjustable shocks and a four-link design for both front and rear axles. Heavy-duty axles, Wilwood disc brakes, and pinion brakes ensure durability and stopping power, while 20-inch black steel wheels wrapped in Michelin XZL tires enhance the rugged aesthetic.
Inside, the cabin is a harmonious mix of modern convenience and vintage charm. A black vinyl bench seat is surrounded by body-colored sheet metal and fabricated door panels. Features include power windows, Vintage Air climate control, and a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment system paired with Rockford Fosgate speakers and a Bazooka subwoofer. The twin-stick transfer case shifter and grenade-style gear shifter add a playful, custom touch.
Driver instrumentation is handled by Dakota Digital gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer and 8,000-rpm tachometer, along with readings for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage.
This 1940 Dodge VC Pickup, listed with an Antique designation on its Pennsylvania title, is a one-of-a-kind build that combines the rugged appeal of a classic truck with the functionality of modern engineering. Bidding ends Thursday, December 19, at 2:33 p.m. EDT on BringATrailer.com.
