AUCTION: 4,900-Mile 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione!
The Beautiful Italian 2000s Sports Car...
One of the most exciting vehicles to come from the Alfa Romeo brand in the past two decades, as to be the 8C Competizione. Originally introduced as a concept car in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the two-seater was meant to harken the styling of Alfa Romeos from the 1950s and 1960s. The car’s name comes from a combination of the famed 8-cylinder 8C road and race cars from the 1930s and the 1948 6C 2500 Competizione. The car was meant to serve as a new halo car for the brand going into the new millennium.
In 2007, Alfa Romeo announced that they would, in fact, bring the car to production for a limited production of 500 units. The production car would be very similar to the concept, however, it did feature a list of small changes, such as a rear-hinged hood, Bi-Xenon headlamps, a wiper system for the windshield, a mesh side vent, and a different seat of wheels that mimcked a clover (which continues on the modern Alfa lineup, today). The car also featured a carbon-fiber body (produced by ATR Group) mated to a steel chassis (made by ITCA Produzione), with assembly being completed at the Maserati factory in Modena.
Of the 500 units built, 90 units were sent to the United States, more than any other country. It marked the return of the Alfa Romeo brand to the North American market after a 13-year absence in the marketplace. This Metablack Metallic-colored 2008 model is 1 of those 90 units sent to the United States. Originally delivered to Maserati of Seattle, the car had a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $306,905 when it was brand new.
Upon looking at the window sticker, we can see this car had quite a few of the option boxes checked back in 2008. Those options included…

Powering the 8C Competizione is a Ferrari/Maserati-designed 4.7-liter F136 V8 (YC) featuring a 90° bank angle and cross-plane crankshaft. The engine delivers 444 horsepower (331 kW) @ 7,000 rpm and 354 lb.-ft. (480 N⋅m) of torque @ 4,750 rpm. The engine was mated to a 6-speed transaxle gearbox which had computerized gear selection, thanks to paddle shifters on the steering column and a limited-slip differential. The gearbox could shift gears in 175 milliseconds when “Sport” mode was selected.
The cockpit features carbon-fiber seats trimmed in black leather accented by red stitching. The dashboard and center console feature brushed aluminum and carbon-fiber trim, and additional equipment includes dual-zone climate control, and a Bose sound system. Sticky interior buttons were reportedly addressed in December 2020.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel features aluminum spokes ahead of paddle shifters and a 210 mph speedometer, a 9,000 rpm tachometer, and digital readouts for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 4,900 miles.
Although the car was sold in Seattle, Washington, it was moved to New Jersey in 2014. It was there that the car was purchased by the selling dealer in 2022, which is located in Chicago. The car is being sold with its original window sticker, factory books, a fitted luggage set, a battery charger, a car cover, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
