AUCTION: 1k-Mile 1997 Plymouth Prowler with Trailer

This 1997 Plymouth Prowler is a pristine example of the retro-modern roadster that turned heads in the late 1990s. As #143 of just 457 units built during its debut production year, this Prowler has been exceptionally preserved, showing only 1,030 miles on the odometer. The factory-matched Prowler Ajax trailer adds to its rarity, making it a complete package for collectors.

A Unique Design in Prowler Purple – 

Finished in the unmistakable Prowler Purple, this car features distinctive split front and rear bumpers, cycle-style front fenders, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. The black manually operated convertible top tucks neatly into the rear-hinged trunk. A set of staggered-diameter five-spoke wheels completes the bold aesthetic, with 17-inch wheels up front and 20-inch wheels at the rear wrapped in Goodyear Eagle GS-D tires.

High-Tech for Its Time – 

Inside, the cockpit is outfitted with Agate leather bucket seats embossed with Prowler logos. The dashboard features a body-color panel housing centrally mounted gauges, including a 150-mph speedometer. An AutoMeter tachometer sits prominently in front of the driver. Other amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, an Infinity sound system, and an AM/FM cassette stereo with a CD changer. The AutoStick shifter allows for manual gear changes, providing a more engaging driving experience.

Performance and Engineering – 

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an aluminum block, factory-rated at 214 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transaxle and torque tube, delivering a balanced weight distribution. Four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, and an inboard coilover suspension enhance its handling dynamics.

The Matching Trailer – 

This Prowler comes with a color-matched trailer from Ajax Trailers Inc., featuring a top-opening hatch and a set of Goodyear Eagle GS-N tires on five-spoke wheels. The trailer complements the car and adds practicality for road trips or shows.

History and Documentation – 

The car was initially delivered to Len Stoler Chrysler-Plymouth in Maryland with a window sticker showing a total price of $39,000. It comes with its original manufacturer’s literature, purchase documentation from 1998, covers for both the car and trailer and a clean Montana title. The Carfax report confirms a history free of accidents or damage.

The selling dealer, who acquired this collector-grade Prowler in 2024, is offering it again. Previously sold on Bring a Trailer in February 2022, this exceptional example is now up for bidding again. The auction will end on Tuesday, January 21, at 3:40 p.m. EDT.
