All-Wheel-Drive Is Back! 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition:
AWD Is Back For The First Time Since 2004...
All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) is back! This morning, the Chrysler brand introduced the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition – the company’s return to offering AWD in their minivan lineup for the first time since 2004. Introduced at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year on the revised 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America, Tim Kuniskis announced that new drivetrain would be introduced on the 2020 model year vehicles before the restyling of the 2021 model.
Despite having an almost three month shut down of its manufacturing operations in North America, Chrysler will build its 2020 model with the all-new AWD system. The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition will be based on the popular Touring-L model with the S Appearance Package and offers not only new all-weather capability that most expect from larger crossovers and SUVs, but also offers the functionality and flexibility of Chrysler’s trademarked Stow ‘n Go seating.
The new AWD system is capable of transferring all available engine torque to the rear wheels, or whichever wheels have more available traction. The Pacifica AWD system is also able to sense and stop the driveshaft from spinning when AWD is not required (similar to the system found on the Chrysler 300), a class-exclusive feature in the segment that improves efficiency.
The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition utilizes the S Appearance Packages striking looks with Black Noise badging, Gloss Black headlamp, grille, rear valance, and daylight opening (DLO) surrounds to give a more sporty appearance to its exterior. A new set of 18-inch “Foreshadow” finished aluminum wheels on 235/60-R18 Michelin Premier self-sealing tires will also highlight the looks of the exterior.
Inside, you can find McKinley leather seats bordered with Light Diesel Gray stitching and brushed metal hydro bezels throughout the cabin. An 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Navigation is also standard. Other optional features include the popular Uconnect Theater system for kids, Advanced SafetyTec Package, a tri-pane panoramic sunroof, Trailer Tow Package, KeySense access, and the upgraded Premium Group Package.
Ordering is available starting this morning at your local Chrysler dealer and the vehicle will be available in both the United States and Canada. The U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition is $40,240, excluding destination fees. Canadian pricing has not been announced yet. The Pacifica AWD Launch Edition has already been added to Chrysler.com’s Build & Price configurator as well.
The Pacifica AWD Launch Edition will be available in 9 exterior colors that include, Brilliant Black, Maximum Steel, Granite Crystal, Ceramic Gray, Billet Silver, Ocean Blue, Velvet Red, Luxury White, or Bright White.
You can expect the new Pacifica AWD Launch Edition to start arriving in dealerships in the third quarter of this year.
