FIAT Says “Ciao” To It’s Brazilian Uno With Special Edition!

The word Ciao, in Italian, is a two-way greeting. It can be used both to greet someone and to say goodbye. For this reason, FIAT understood that there was no better way to name the special farewell series of the Fiat Uno, whose production ends after 37 years of history.

Uno Ciao is a special limited series of 250 units in honor of an icon of the Brazilian automotive industry. Manufactured uninterruptedly since August 1984 at the Betim Automotive Pole (MG), the Fiat Uno has accumulated 4,379,356 units produced thus far.

“Over its 37 years in the market, Uno has become an icon and has marked the lives of millions of Brazilians. For all that it represents for the brand and for the history of the automotive industry, its farewell would have to be up to par, but in an atmosphere of celebration. The Uno was FIAT’s best-selling vehicle in South America, in addition to having been a pioneer in many aspects throughout its trajectory. It is precisely this vocation for innovation and modernity that we will keep alive in the current range and Future of FIAT, without a doubt, we will honor the legacy of this icon. That’s why we don’t say ‘Goodbye’, but ‘Ciao'”, reinforces Herlander Zola, Director of FIAT South America and Commercial Operations.

The special series is numbered with an emblem that identifies the unit and marks the farewell of the most beloved car among Brazilians. The setting is unique, to honor fans and collectors.

All units are painted exclusively Silverstone Gray, with a black painted roof, exterior mirrors, and rear spoiler. The doors have body-color handles and a side sticker with the name Uno Ciao accompanied by the phrase “LA STORIA DI UNA LEGGENDA” — “the story of a legend” in Italian. The striking look is complemented by unique 14-inch dark alloy wheels and the UNO logo in Italian colors to the left of the trunk lid.

Inside, Uno Ciao adopts a darker pattern and a bicolor finish in light tones on the doors and in the central strip that crosses the dashboard. On it is the nameplate numbered, from 001 to 250, measuring even more exclusivity. Also highlighted are the seats with a unique finish and armrest for the driver’s seat. Uno Ciao is a gift for everyone who, in some way, had Uno participating in their lives.

The list of equipment, one of the historical attributes of the model, remains long. There is air conditioning, power steering, instrument panel with LCD screen, on-board computer, sound system with Bluetooth radio and USB input, double airbag, front locks and electric windows with one-touch and anti-crushing, universal hook for fixing a child seat (Isofix), rear window wiper, washer and defogger, ABS brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), three-point seat belt and headrest for all occupants, split and folding rear seats. On the roof, Uno Ciao has the exclusive upper storage compartment with an additional central mirror, ideal for monitoring children and pets in the rear seat.

In these 37 years, Uno has played a crucial role in FIAT’s business in the country. It quickly became synonymous with strength, versatility, efficiency, and reliability, conquering generations of customers and consolidating its place in history.

Uno was responsible for pioneering several technologies in the industry. Its bodywork has always combined design with versatility, being able to deliver interior space, unrivaled visibility, and comfort that revolutionized the segment. So much so that, upon its arrival (1984), the model inaugurated the concept “Small on the outside, BIG on the inside”.

In 1987, the Uno 1.5 R arrived, the fastest FIAT of the brand, which did from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 12 seconds. The role of the One in the democratization of mobility is indisputable. In 1990, it was the first car in Brazil with a 1.0-liter engine, another brand new feature. Compact, light, and spacious, it allowed millions of Brazilians to have a modern brand new vehicle in their garages.

In 1994, the Mille ELX became the first popular car to feature air conditioning. In the same year, and at a time when no one was talking about downsizing, FIAT surprised the market by launching the Uno Turbo, which combined performance and efficiency in a model that quickly became the Brazilian consumer dream.

The innovations didn’t stop there. In 2010, its second generation, 100% developed in Brazil, challenged the establishment with a surprising proposal – rounding the square, creating a new reading around the essence that has always been linked to the model, introducing the new Uno. More modern than ever, it was the platform for dreams and concepts, such as Uno Ecology, with pieces made from sugar cane and a roof with photovoltaic cells capable of harnessing sunlight to generate electricity.

In 2013 the first generation of the model came to an end, marked by the special Grazie Mille series. In 2015, Uno Evolution debuted in the country the Start-Stop technology. The small FIAT, responsible for debuting several outstanding engines in the range, including in its vast curriculum the modern engines of the Firefly family, in 1.0-liter three-cylinder and 1.3-liter configurations.

So we would like to say Ciao to the Fiat Uno.
