Since the start of the 2020 model year, we have gotten a bunch of e-mails regarding the Jeep® Grand Cherokee’s new safety packages, now called ProTech packages. So we thought we would breakdown these packages, for everyone to easily understand and answer your questions. Let’s take a look at what the three new packages for 2020 mean…
The Protech I Package was known as “Standard Safety Content” in 2019, before getting its new name for 2020.
Protech I Package: (Standard on all 2020 Jeep® Grand Cherokee models)
- Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Detection
- ParkSense Rear Park Assist
- ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera
The ProTech II Package is available on Laredo E, Upland, Altitude, and North Edition models and is new for the 2020 model year. The package has a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $875.
Protech II Package: (Optional on Laredo E, Upland, Altitude, and North Edition models)
- Forward Collision Warning +
- LaneSense Lane Departure Warning +
- Auto High Beam Headlamps
- Advanced Brake Assist
Known as the “Jeep Advanced Active Safety Group” in 2019, the package was renamed as the Protech III Package for 2020. The package has a U.S. MSRP of $1,495 and is featured on four models.
Protech III Package: (Optional on Limited, Limited X, Trailhawk & Overland models)
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop
- Full-Speed Collision Warning +
- LaneSense Lane Departure Warning +
- Parallel & Perpendicular Park Assist
- Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers
- Advanced Brake Assist
As the most awarded SUV ever, the Jeep® Grand Cherokee continues to be at the forefront of the larger SUV segment. Even though the next-generation Grand Cherokee is right around the corner, it hasn’t stopped the Jeep brand from putting more safety content into its lineup which should be continuing production until the 2022 model year.
