34K-Mile 1985 Chrysler LeBaron GTS Turbo Heads To BringATrailer

Low-Mile, 5-Speed Turbo Hatchback From California Shows Off Chrysler’s 1980s Innovation

The 1985 Chrysler LeBaron GTS Turbo represents one of Chrysler’s most advanced front-wheel-drive performance cars of the 1980s. This particular example, showing only 34,000 miles, spent over three decades in California before being acquired by the seller in July 2025. Now finished in blue over black leather, this five-door hatchback is powered by a turbocharged 2.2-liter I4 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, combining practicality with spirited driving dynamics. It’s currently listed on BringATrailer with no reserve, and bidding wraps up Wednesday, October 29, at 2:35 p.m. EDT.

Under the hood, the turbocharged 2.2-liter SOHC I4 produced 146 horsepower and 168 lb-ft of torque when new—strong numbers for the era. The seller reports recent service, including a new timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, and a full engine tune-up completed in September 2025. The car also received an oil change, coolant flush, and replacement of one CV joint before the sale, ensuring it’s ready for the next owner to enjoy.

The exterior was repainted in blue under previous ownership and retains its factory styling cues—quad rectangular headlights, black body moldings, a rear wiper, and dual exhaust tips. Machine-finished 15-inch alloy wheels show light oxidation and are wrapped in 195/60 Fullway HP108 tires. Stopping power comes from front disc and rear drum brakes, and the brake fluid was recently flushed.

Inside, the LeBaron features black leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, cruise control, and Chrysler’s Electronic Voice Alert (EVA) system—one of the brand’s signature high-tech features of the era. The digital dashboard displays speed, RPM, voltage, oil pressure, and temperature, though the fuel gauge and trip computer buttons are noted as inoperative. The air conditioning has been repaired and recharged, ensuring comfort on hot days.

This LeBaron GTS Turbo captures a moment when Chrysler was reinventing itself through technology and turbo power. With its rare 5-speed manual transmission, low mileage, and documented recent maintenance, it’s a standout survivor from the early days of front-drive performance. Offered at no reserve with a clean Carfax and Florida title, this well-preserved hatchback could be a perfect addition for collectors of 1980s Mopar iron or anyone seeking a unique turbocharged classic.
