Stellantis Extends $7,500 Electric Vehicle (EV) Credit For Now
Automaker Steps In To Keep Dodge, Jeep®, Chrysler, and Alfa Romeo EVs and PHEVs Competitive

Stellantis (FCA US) is giving American car buyers a bit more breathing room in the electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) market. Despite the official expiration of the federal $7,500 EV tax credit, the automaker has confirmed to the Detroit Free Press that it will continue to honor the incentive on eligible models—at least through the end of 2025, as long as dealer inventory lasts.

This move comes as Stellantis tries to regain ground in the U.S. market. The company posted its best quarter in years, with sales climbing 6% year-over-year in Q3 2025 to 324,825 units. Chrysler, Jeep®, and FIAT all contributed to the gain, with Jeep carrying much of the load thanks to surging demand for the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEVs.
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has been the nation’s best-selling PHEV, helping Stellantis sell more than 128,000 Wranglers so far this year. Meanwhile, the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S hit 4,163 deliveries in Q3 alone, bringing its 2025 total to over 10,000. The all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona and Hornet R/T PHEV, Chrysler’s Pacifica Hybrid, and Alfa Romeo’s Tonale PHEV also qualify for the temporary credit extension.

There is a catch, however. Unlike the original IRS tax credit, Stellantis’ program only applies to vehicles already sitting in dealer stock. Once those units are sold, the incentive disappears unless the company renews it. Stellantis is referring to the benefit as “bonus cash,” which is applied directly to the transaction price, making it functionally identical to the old federal rebate.
By stepping in, Stellantis joins rivals Ford, General Motors (GM), and Hyundai, which also pledged to help buyers offset the loss of federal incentives. For Stellantis, the strategy is clear—keep EVs and PHEVs attractive while the brand ramps up its electrification lineup and works to win back U.S. market share.

For now, customers eyeing a new Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, or Alfa Romeo electrified model still have access to a deal that keeps them in the game—at least until inventories run out.
