528 HEMI®-Powered 1968 Dodge Charger Hits the Auction Block

Restored Muscle Car Packs Modern Punch with Classic Style

Some classic muscle cars just check all the right boxes—timeless looks, a thumping HEMI® under the hood, and a meticulous restoration that blends old-school charm with modern performance. That’s exactly the case with this 1968 Dodge Charger, now up for grabs on BringATrailer.com. This car went through a multi-year build, completed in February 2025, and the results speak for themselves: a blacked-out beauty with a monster 8.7-liter (528 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 and less than 500 miles since completion.

A Classic Look with Subtle Muscle Car Flair –

This ’68 Charger wears its sinister attitude proudly. The exterior was completely refinished in glossy black with red vinyl tail stripes stretching across the rear, giving it that iconic Mopar muscle look. During the build, the grille, chrome trim, passenger glass, side mirror, door handles, and weather seals were all replaced. Even the wipers are brand new. A custom Six Pack-style hood hints at the beast beneath, while LED headlights and taillights bring a touch of modern convenience without ruining the vintage vibe. The finishing touches include R/T emblems, round side markers, and a ceramic-coated finish to keep it gleaming for years to come.

Rolling on Steel and Stopping with Wilwood –

Underneath, this Charger has been updated to handle the power it now makes. Wheel Vintiques 15-inch steel wheels wear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires—245/60 up front and massive 295/50s in the back—to give the car a classic stance with modern grip. Behind those wheels, Wilwood disc brakes with 11-inch rotors and a Wilwood master cylinder provide serious stopping power. A Hotchkis TVS suspension kit, Borgeson steering box, CalTracs traction bars, and subframe connectors make sure this old-school Mopar drives better than it ever did new.

528 HEMI® Power Under the Hood –

The star of the show is the Gen II 8.7-liter (528 cubic-inch) HEMI V8. Built around a Callies iron block with a forged rotating assembly, Icon pistons, and a hydraulic roller camshaft, this engine was made to deliver big power reliably. Edelbrock aluminum heads, Manton pushrods, and a Brawler 950-cfm carburetor feed the beast, while an MSD ignition and Aeromotive fuel system keep it firing on all cylinders. Cooling is handled by a Champion four-row radiator, and the spent gasses exit through TTI long-tube headers and a 3-inch Dynomax dual exhaust with cutouts for that “open header” sound when you want it.

Built Drivetrain for Serious Muscle –

Backing the HEMI is a modified TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic with high-performance internals, paired with a Strange Engineering Dana 60 “Black Beauty” rear end with a Trac-Lok differential, 35-spline axles, and 3.55 gears. The entire rear axle assembly is powder-coated black, making even the underside look show-ready.

Interior Blends Retro Style and Modern Touches –

Step inside, and you’ll find a classic black vinyl interior updated with Dakota Digital gauges, a B&M T-handle shifter, and an Ididit steering column topped with an R/T-branded wooden-rimmed wheel. Modern touches like a Retrosound Bluetooth receiver and Kicker speakers give you a soundtrack other than the HEMI, while the trunk and footwells feature Charger R/T-branded mats.

Ready for a New Home –

If you want an iconic ’60s Mopar that blends classic styling with modern muscle, this 1968 Dodge Charger is a hard one to pass up.
