2025 Dodge Attitude Hits Mexican Dealerships

Chinese-Built Sedan Is Packed With Features...

The 2025 Dodge Attitude has officially arrived at Dodge dealers across Mexico, introducing a new player in the compact sedan segment. This model, built in China and based on the GAC-Trumpchi Empow, follows a similar strategy to the Dodge Journey derived from the GAC-Trumpchi GS5.

A Familiar Feel –

The all-new Attitude’s arrival reminds us of Dodge’s successful sedan lineup of the late 1990s and early 2000s, which included the Avenger, Intrepid, and Stratus. These front-wheel-drive (FWD) models were well-regarded for their blend of affordability, practicality, and sporty design, resonating with many buyers.

Some New Attitude –

Attitude SXT: Priced at $399,900 MXN (or around $23,480 USD), the SXT is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering a balance of power and efficiency. Notable features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch LCD digital gauge cluster, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a suite of safety features, including six airbags and a rear parking camera.

Attitude Sport: For $454,900 MXN (around $26,710 USD), the Sport trim adds several enhancements over the SXT. This includes an upgraded sound system, a 10.25-inch LCD gauge cluster, nine autonomous security features, front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with a flat-bottom design, paddle shifters, and leather seats with heating and ventilation. The Sport trim rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels.

Attitude GT: At $488,900 MXN (about $28,700 USD), the GT trim takes the Attitude to the next level with premium features such as blind-spot monitoring, a sport interior available in black or black/red, four-way lumbar support for the driver, a wireless phone charger, and a rear sports spoiler. The GT also features 18-inch aluminum wheels with a satin-black finish.

Affordable and Practical –

The 2025 Dodge Attitude’s design and features evoke memories of Dodge’s past sedans, such as the Avenger, Intrepid, and Stratus. These vehicles were famous for their affordability, practical features, and sporty appeal. The Attitude’s sleek headlights, large grille, and bold Dodge badges reflect the design ethos that characterized these earlier models.

The Attitude’s powertrain, with its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivering 168 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque provides a spirited driving experience reminiscent of the performance-oriented nature of Dodge’s earlier sedans. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission enhances this by ensuring smooth and responsive shifts.

A Strategic Move with Room for Growth –

The Dodge Attitude’s introduction in Mexico highlights Dodge’s strategy of offering well-priced, feature-rich compact sedans in emerging markets. While this approach is well-suited to the current demand for affordable cars, it also underscores a missed opportunity for Dodge in the American and Canadian markets.

A similar model, designed and built in the U.S. or Canada, could address the gap for an affordable and sporty sedan in Dodge’s North American lineup. Such a vehicle would appeal to buyers seeking a blend of performance and practicality, paying homage to Dodge’s classic sedans while meeting modern expectations.

As Dodge continues to expand its offerings, the hope remains that the brand might revisit its roots with a vehicle that combines the best aspects of its historical models with contemporary design and technology. Mexican buyers can now enjoy the 2025 Dodge Attitude, which bridges Dodge’s storied past with its evolving future.

Yea you lost me at the part that this car is a Chinese communist party GAC designed vehicle and rebadged as a dodge.

If Chrysler would build a car completely in house and on their own platform, the R&D in Auburn Hills and build it in a Chrysler plant located in the US or CAN then I’d be interested.

Too many people do not realize that the economic systems of the US and China are vastly different and that gives China a huge advantage in costs attributed to what is effectively government controlled industries and low pay for workers. In essence, the steady infiltration of Chinese automotive products through surrogate countries like Mexico in order to dodge sanctions results in a serious threat. Trumps proposed Reciprocal Tariff plan must be implemented if he is elected in order to level the playing field. It’s not phobic to respond to an unfair trade situation to protect American industry and workers. That stated, I move on to this Dodge.
There remains a viable market for North American built compact and mid-size cars with comparable pricing. Manufacturing of these affordable vehicles globally can be profitable and wise. I believe Dodge needs a line of smaller cars, and Chrysler at least a large sedan to return the 300 to its traditional market. To cede the sedan, coupe and luxury car market to foreign manufacturers is unacceptable. If it takes tariffs and sanctions to accomplish this, than so be it. Hopefully with strong pro American leadership, the industry will reclaim its position domestically in these segments. Export numbers going forward must match import numbers. The lingering question remains in conversation with some of our European allies “ how many Dodges do your citizens drive?” That tells the whole story and highlights why this Dodge in Mexico is a real threat to our nation’s auto industry.
Oh would it not be nice to drive the exclusive Imperial once again and wow your friends with that symbol of American engineering and quality.

We have muscle cars built in Canada and motors built in Mexico - I wouldn't mind a product made in China if it was this nice. I think this would have sold much better than the Hornet.

Stellantis, hello, good morning. Take this car right here, put it on the STLA medium platform, add to this thing, the 2.0L Hurricane I-4 turbocharged engine with that E-DCT transmission you guys have overseas, sell it in the US market as the Avenger and make money
