1997 Dodge Ram 1500 SS/T Roars Onto the Auction Block

Low-Mileage Mopar Muscle Truck Channels ’90s Attitude on BaT

Back in the ’90s, Dodge made a bold move in the truck world—injecting muscle car attitude into a full-size pickup. After the 1996 Dodge Ram Indy 500 Official Truck turned heads with its Viper-inspired stripes and brawny 5.9-liter V8, Dodge followed it up in 1997 with something even more widely available but no less aggressive: the Ram 1500 SS/T, or Super Sport Truck.

This Flame Red 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 SS/T, currently up for auction on BringATrailer.com, is the real deal. With just 57,000 miles on the clock and a clean one-owner history from new, this SS/T is one of the cleanest surviving examples of Dodge’s original sport truck experiment. It was originally delivered through Clemons of Fairfield in Iowa and comes with all the right equipment, including the rare Sport Truck Performance Package.

Under the hood, it packs a factory-rated 245 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque from a 5.9-liter (360 cubic-inch) MAGNUM V8, mated to a four-speed automatic and an optional limited-slip differential. It’s got the sound to match too, thanks to a sport-tuned exhaust that was part of the factory upgrade.

Visually, this truck is unmistakable. It features the full SS/T treatment—dual silver racing stripes that run from the front bumper to the tailgate, a body-colored grille, fog lamps, and a front air dam. This one even rides on 17-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in Cooper Discoverer HTP II tires, giving it that classic street truck stance. Unlike the Indy 500 version, the SS/T didn’t come with any special event stickers, but it proudly wears the SS/T logos on the hood and tailgate.

Inside, it’s all business with a Mist Gray cloth bench seat, AM/FM/cassette stereo, power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry—pretty much loaded for a ’90s pickup. The digital odometer reads just 57,000 miles, and the included handwritten maintenance log indicates that this one was well-loved and well-cared for.

Whether you’re a collector of vintage Mopar metal or just a truck fan looking for something with real personality, this is a time capsule worth checking out. It’s currently live on BringATrailer, with bidding set to end Wednesday, July 23 at 4:18 p.m. EDT.

This isn’t just a truck—it’s a piece of Dodge muscle truck history.
