1966 Dodge A100 Pickup Ready for Restoration on BringATrailer

Classic A100 With Modern Upgrades and Restoration Potential...

A pretty cool looking 1966 Dodge A100 pickup is currently up for grabs on BringATrailer.com, with bidding closing on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. This eye-catching truck, which has undergone several updates and refinishing, offers a blend of classic style and contemporary upgrades, though it also presents opportunities for further enhancement.

Under the hood, this A100 is powered by a replacement 5.2-liter (318 cubic-inch) V8 engine, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and air cleaner, providing a performance boost over the stock setup. A battery tie-down was fabricated and installed in August 2023, along with a new fuel filler neck hose.

The truck was refinished in red paint under previous ownership, and the bed has been coated with spray-on bedliner material for added durability. Notable features include dual mirrors and Torq Thrust-style 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The drum brakes received significant attention in 2023, including replacement wheel cylinders, hoses, and fluid. Additionally, a fabricated emergency brake mechanism was installed, and the front wheel bearings were serviced. However, the right-side kingpin and leaf spring eye bushings show signs of wear.

Inside, the A100 features aftermarket bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl with microsuede inserts. The seat mounts require service, and the heated seat controls are inoperative. The heater core has been bypassed, and the seat belt buckles are mounted to the engine shroud. The interior also sports a two-spoke steering wheel, a 100-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer reads 176 miles, though the total mileage remains unknown. Notably, the horn is inoperative, and the horn button is incomplete.

The truck’s exhaust system ends ahead of the 8.75-inch rear axle, which has a 3.55:1 final-drive ratio. The A100 does not feature a coolant expansion tank, and the truck is offered with a Washington state title branded as “Antique.”

This classic 1966 Dodge A100 pickup, with its unique blend of vintage charm and modern upgrades, represents an exciting project for any enthusiast looking to bring a piece of automotive history back to its prime. The vehicle’s current condition highlights some areas needing attention, making it a prime candidate for a restoration enthusiast to invest in.
