If you’re a fan of classic drag racing and Mopar muscle, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 has a showstopper just for you. Crossing the auction block tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, 2025, is the meticulously restored 1964 Dodge Polara Super Stocker, famously known as “The Prosecutor.” This legendary race car has a rich history that makes it one of the most unique and storied vehicles in the world of drag racing.

Powering “The Prosecutor” is a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 engine equipped with 8-stack FAST electronic fuel injection and electronic ignition, delivering ferocious performance. The engine is paired with a push-button automatic transmission, a feature that nods to its era. Its striking AF/X Gasser-inspired look is completed with an A100 straight-axle front end, slicks, a raised front end, and a Lexan bubbled windshield. The car is purpose-built for the quarter-mile strip, running on 110-octane race fuel and featuring open headers for an authentic drag racing experience.

This car’s racing career began in California, where it was originally a 426 Super Stock lightweight. Piloted by Bill Golden as “The Maverick,” it dominated the Southwest drag racing scene in 1964, only losing one race. Later, the car was rechristened “The Prosecutor” and campaigned in the Southeast under driver Stanley Ward. Between 1965 and 1966, it remained undefeated, solidifying its legacy.

Though the original car was found in 2010 in a dilapidated state in Louisiana, Dr. Terry Winkler spearheaded a full rotisserie restoration in 2011, faithfully recreating its legendary look and performance. The restoration not only preserved the car’s rich history but also garnered attention in major publications like Mopar Collectors Guide in August 2011 and July 2013.

Despite its show-stopping appearance, “The Prosecutor” isn’t street-legal, but it does come with a title and functional lights, making it perfect for hauling to shows or events. Included in the sale are trophies, display boards, and a red jump seat for a passenger. For collectors, the history and legacy of this car offer a unique investment opportunity.
