It’s the holiday season and Christmas is here. As owners of a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, we are always checking out different videos on YouTube regarding the 707 horsepower Hellcat-powered SUV. So too much of our surprise, we see that the mad scientist over at Hennessey Performance have taken their 1,000 horsepower version of the Trackhawk called the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk HPE1000 and trap a pine tree on the roof to recapture their self-proclaimed “world’s fastest Christmas Tree record.”
Now a couple of years ago, the Hennessey Performance team, did a similar stunt in a Hennessey tuned Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and achieved a top speed of 174 MPH. Take the same idea, strap the tree to the roof of a true SUV like most Americans and Canadians, add in 1,000 horsepower, and a lot of space to get up and go to unleash all that horsepower and the Grand Cherokee broke their previous record by 7 MPH! Yes, that’s right, 181 MPH!
With that much speed, Clark Griswold wouldn’t have had to worry about finding a Christmas tree after his burnt to the ground on Christmas Eve before the tree lots closed for the night.
Of course, there was a professional driver behind the wheel in safety gear, at the stunt was performed on the closed course at the Uvalde Proving Grounds which is about 80 miles west of San Antonio, Texas. So much for us giving it a try in our Trackhawk!
